1.4 The supply chain
Organisations are recognising that there are benefits of establishing links between
different companies in the value chain.
The value system looks at linking the value chains of suppliers and
customers to that of the organisation.
The supply chain network is a group of organisations which
relates to each other through the linkages between the different
processes involved in producing the finished product. The chain
pushes the product out into the market.
The demand network involves the collaboration between
organisations to share information and produce a product the
market is demanding. Products are pulled into existence in
response to demand signals.
