1 • •• • INTRODUCTION
In today’s lean, just-in-time manufacturing environment, product found to be nonconforming at receiving or
during production causes serious schedule disruptions. This can result in high production costs and negative
impact to customer service. Since even the best Receiving Inspection programs do not detect all defective
material, Sun Corporation requires Suppliers to control the quality of material shipped to our facilities.
2 • •• • PURPOSE
The purpose of this Supplier Quality System Expectation Manual is to clearly communicate Sun’s quality
requirements and expectations to ensure materials are produced and received to specifications, at a
competitive price in accordance with the defined delivery schedule. The manual is intended to assist suppliers in
their understanding of requirements regarding specific management, communication and reporting processes.
The requirements within this Manual are provided as a supplement, not as a replacement for or the altering
of terms and conditions within the pre-established supplier agreement.
3 • •• • SCOPE
The information in this manual applies to all Sun Corporation Suppliers who have interest in, or are currently
providing components/materials/processes and services, except where dictated by contract.
4 • •• • POLICY
At Sun Products Corporation, we expect from our Suppliers the same level of performance and service as our
customers expect from us. We are dedicated to selecting Suppliers who are committed to optimum
performance in product quality, on-time delivery and cost; working in a safe and environmentally conscious
manner; as well as year-on-year review to continually improve in each of these areas to optimize value to Sun
Corporation.
Sun Products Corporation’s process of evaluating, measuring and monitoring Supplier performance and
awareness of our business processes and practices are core elements in our Quality Management System,
enabling Sun Corporation to achieve compliance with applicable regulatory and customer requirements. Sun’s
commitment is to communicate quality, delivery and purchasing requirements to all Sun Products Corporation’s
Suppliers, contributing toward meeting their goals and objectives.
Working collaboratively with Suppliers to develop new technologies, share best practices and ideas that
complement Sun’s competencies, and capitalize on the synergies of collective problem solving ensures a
mutually beneficial relationship and creates common objectives and expectations.
