As English, the lingua franca, has gained the status of an international
LITERARY CLUB language, it is imperative to enhance communicative skills in English. We, at
GIHS, adopt a communicative approach for the enhancement of speaking
skills of the students in the class. The Literary club of the school
conducted activities with not only the primary aim to enhance the
communicative skills of the students but also to identify the problems of
the students who are structurally competent in writing but cannot
communicate appropriately. The following activities were conducted for
various classes: -
Grade 4-8: Workshop on Drama
Grade 9-12: Character Portrayal
Grade 4- 8: Workshop on Drama:
Students of grade 10 gave a PowerPoint Presentation detailing the elements
of drama and other techniques. The workshop taught skills such as: Physical
Theatre; Puppetry; Improvisation; Acting; Characterization; Voice &
Accent; and Audition Technique. During the workshop students developed
their skills using traditional storytelling techniques and performed stories
based on Tolerance.
Grade 9-10: Character Portrayal:

examples from Shakespearean drama. Some of the students were dressed
up as Minne Mouse, Pokemon, Minion etc. They role played their characters
in front of other students. The students became enthusiastic, after
witnessing the role play and everyone emanated independently to perform

IT CLUB Grade IV -VIII : Hour of Code Programming – Minecraft
The objective of HOUR OF CODE programming is to:
• design to demystify "code", to show that anyone can learn the
basics, and to broaden participation in the field of computer
science
• get the opportunity to learn computer science as one of the key
subjects.
The Minecraft- Hour of Code introduces basic coding skills in a 2-D world
that mimics the same environment that players would find in the popular
software game. Minecraft is well suited for educational purposes, because
it's a game based solely on building things. Learners tried and enjoyed the
different levels of programming.
Grade IX-XII: Google form creation
The objective of Google form is:
• to create a web-based application for the purpose of data
collection.
• to make surveys, quizzes, or event registration sheets.
Google Form is a tool that allows collecting information from users via a
personalized survey or quiz. The information is then collected and
automatically connected to a spreadsheet. The spreadsheet is populated
with the survey and quiz responses. The learners demonstrated on how to
create forms and later they created one with the provided information.
