As  English,  the  lingua  franca,  has  gained  the  status  of  an  international


                              LITERARY CLUB                    language, it is imperative to enhance communicative skills in English. We, at

                                                               GIHS, adopt a communicative approach for the enhancement of speaking


                                                               skills  of  the  students  in  the  class.  The  Literary  club  of  the  school


                                                               conducted  activities  with  not  only  the  primary  aim  to  enhance  the


                                                               communicative skills of the students but also to identify the problems of

                                                               the  students  who  are  structurally  competent  in  writing  but  cannot


                                                               communicate  appropriately.  The  following  activities  were  conducted  for


                                                               various classes: -


                                                                   Grade 4-8: Workshop on Drama

                                                                   Grade 9-12: Character Portrayal





                                                               Grade 4- 8: Workshop on Drama:


                                                               Students of grade 10 gave a PowerPoint Presentation detailing the elements

                                                               of drama and other techniques. The workshop taught skills such as: Physical


                                                               Theatre;  Puppetry;  Improvisation;  Acting;  Characterization;  Voice  &


                                                               Accent; and Audition Technique. During the workshop students developed

                                                               their skills using traditional storytelling techniques and performed stories


                                                               based on Tolerance.


                                                               Grade 9-10: Character Portrayal:


                                                               Mrs. Arshi gave a brief description about characters and their traits with

                                                               examples from Shakespearean drama. Some of the students were dressed


                                                               up as Minne Mouse, Pokemon, Minion etc. They role played their characters


                                                               in  front  of  other  students.  The  students  became  enthusiastic,  after


                                                               witnessing the role play and everyone emanated independently to perform

                                                               their favorite character.


                                                               Students enjoyed the activity and participated with great enthusiasm and


                                                               spirit.

                                  IT CLUB                      Grade IV -VIII : Hour of Code Programming – Minecraft

                                                               The objective of HOUR OF CODE programming is to:


                                                                      •  design to demystify "code", to show that anyone can learn the


                                                                          basics,  and  to  broaden  participation  in  the  field  of  computer

                                                                          science


                                                                      •  get the opportunity to learn computer science as one of the key


                                                                          subjects.




                                                               The Minecraft- Hour of Code introduces basic coding skills in a 2-D world


                                                               that mimics the same environment that players would find in the popular


                                                               software game. Minecraft is well suited for educational purposes, because


                                                               it's a game based solely on building things. Learners tried and enjoyed the

                                                               different levels of programming.





                                                               Grade IX-XII: Google form creation


                                                               The objective of Google form is:

                                                                             •  to create a web-based application for the purpose of data


                                                                                 collection.


                                                                             •  to make surveys, quizzes, or event registration sheets.

                                                               Google Form is a tool that allows collecting information from users via a


                                                               personalized  survey  or  quiz.  The  information  is  then  collected  and


                                                               automatically connected to a spreadsheet. The spreadsheet is populated


                                                               with the survey and quiz responses. The learners demonstrated on how to

                                                               create forms and later they created one with the provided information.
