Packed lunch
If you are unable to eat lunch in College due to your university timetable, you can order a
packed lunch via the online ordering system (JCH Information Sharepoint). Please order before
5:30pm on the day before it is required. Your lunch will be available in the JCR or SCR fridge from
7:45am onwards. To avoid food waste, students who order a packed lunch are required to eat
that lunch if their plans change unexpectedly and they are subsequently able to return to
College.
Late dinners
If you cannot get to dinner, you can order a late meal through the online JCH Information
Sharepoint. Orders must be placed by 5.30pm on the day the meal is required. After 7pm, late
meals will be placed in the refrigerator in the JCR or SCR. Late meals are labelled and can be
reheated in the microwaves. Please place your used dishes in the dishwasher in the JCR
kitchenette. If the dishwasher is full, please wash your plates manually (and unstack the
dishwasher once the cycle has finished). If you order a late meal but arrive back at College in
time for dinner, please advise the kitchen staff that you no longer require a late meal. Late meals
left in the fridge will be thrown out after 24 hours. If a student fails to collect their late meal
repeatedly, they may lose this privilege and be required to meet with the Deputy Principal to
explain the reason for this food waste.
Dietary requirements
Students are required to notify the College Office of any special dietary needs or food allergies,
including vegetarianism and veganism. Students needing to change their dietary requirements
part way through a semester must speak to the Deputy Principal so it can be arranged with the
catering service. The chefs will prepare the daily meals based on this information. Please stick to
your dietary requirements formally listed with the College so other students don’t miss out. It is
important to notify the kitchen if you will not require a special meal on a particular evening to
avoid food waste. For High Table and special formal dinners, you will be provided with a dietary
card at the start of the year which you bring with you to formal dinners.
Anaphylaxis
All students are required to read and sign the JCH Anaphylaxis Policy. It is the responsibility of
students with Anaphylaxis to follow College protocol in the management of their health. Please
note that the College does not have its own supply of EpiPens. Students with Anaphylaxis are
required to: complete an Anaphylaxis Plan (usually done with their doctor); provide the College
with an additional EpiPen (or other relevant medication); and ensure that any medication does
not exceed its use-by-date.
