                             SEOUN GANG KIM

Seoun Gang Kim’s artworks have morphed into sculptural paintings and ceramic installation works.
Her concept of sculptural paintings’ consists of creating artworks by gluing traditional Korean papers
on rectangular boxes, and then applying ink and colours on them, deviating from the canvas form of
traditional paintings, as seen in Kim’s previous work. The principle characteristics, such as the simple
rectangular shapes, modularization, and repetition and variation of modules, are seen in many
of Kim’s newer works, which express the infinite creation, mutation, and extinction of life energy.
In addition, she expresses emotions as a ‘trace’ of thought, and reflection on the fundamental life
                             energy in her works.
