Quite an appropriate title considering in recent times I am spending a lot more
time at my desk, as is the case with many of the Agribusiness Team at Meridian!

There is nothing our team enjoys more than getting out on farm to see our
customers face-to-face and in 2021 this has proved to be a challenge with Covid-19
restricting this activity.

The good news is that just like our farmers, electricity is essential to New Zealand
and we work hard to ensure the lights stay on and things keep ticking along.

At Meridian, we have been around for a while and understand the importance
of being here for the long haul. It feels like there is always some sort of challenge

facing the rural sector; weather events, earthquakes and Mycoplasma bovis
are a few I would like to forget. However, there is a positive and that is the
overwhelming resilience shown in the rural industry to not only overcome these
challenges but to learn and grow from them.

Now I say we are a resilient bunch, but everyone has their limit and to be honest I
don’t think we talk enough about some of the mental health issues that are in our
rural communities.
