“What’s the plan Kim?” Alex asks.
“We’ll go ahead and clear out some of the building if anyone's left, then wait
for Captain Smith and the rest of the Department. They'll do their thing and we’ll
be home free. Now let's move.” I command.
The building is abandoned when we get in, I scan for heat signatures and
no one is showing up. I send my remaining men to search the upper and lower
floors while we scan the main floor. I send Alex and Liam to patrol the outside,
making sure nothing happened to our back up and take Helena and Cas with me.
“Where are we going?” Caspian asks.
“There’s something I wanna check.” I reply and pull out my bo staff.
I head down a set of all too familiar stairs that lead to Dr. Taylor’s useless
mutant room as I like to call it. We won’t be able to convert all of the ones outside
but we could save these people. Then we would have some momentum over
Syndrome to expose them and be one step closer to stopping them forever.
When we reach the door it’s heavily fortified and can’t be unlocked without
a code, which none of us know, so I start to carve out an opening using my stun
shots. I can’t fully pierced through the door but I can weaken it. Caspian then
rams into the weakened section breaking down the door allowing us through.
“How do we know these guys aren’t brainwashed like the ones out front?”
Helena asks.
“We don’t, really, but look at us, we’re all relatively fine.” I explain, “If
they’re in this room they hate Dr. Taylor just as much as we do.”
Inside there are dozens of cryogenic sleeping cabinets lining the walls. Ice
and frost have went over most of them showing just how long some of these people
have been sleeping in here. Normally Syndrome would dispose of these people
right off the hop, using them for even more sinister experiments or just killing
them and dumping the body. But some of Dr. Taylor’s mutants, even those who
