Helena and I run to the rest of the Deviants and take cover. Soldiers are
shooting at the sky, hitting nothing, trying to find out where this monster gun is
shooting from.
“What took you so long!?” Caspian yells over the commotion, “Where’s
Elaine?”
“She’s injured, we left her with Medevac. How many mutants did you guys
have?” I ask back.
“Only a dozen or so we made quick work and got here expecting you guys to
have beaten us.” Liam answers.
“Of course you got the easy side.” Helena exhales.
“What’s our status?” I order.
“We are royally screwed!” Alex fumes while dodging another wave of
bullets getting eerily close to our cover.
I scan the area utilizing my heat signature detection in my eyes to locate the
machine. With the inconsistent lengths between gunshots and imperfect aim, the
gun couldn't be completely automated, someone's using it.
“Cover me!” I demand making a break for a wall lining the headquarters.
Everyone jumps out of the cover drawing shots away from me. I glitch to a
ledge on the wall and continue climbing. At the top I can’t get into the opening
while the gun is firing so I order everyone back into hiding and wait for an opening
to enter. I hardly miss being blown apart and slide over the gun, kicking the
woman operating it in the face. She tries to punch me back but I grab her wrist and
twist her arm behind her back and stun her from behind. I glitch back down to the
surface and asses the damage.
“Tower’s up!” Liam happily says.
Thankfully we didn't lose many soldiers and our back up will be here
shortly.
