(Excerpts from the JHCSC Research Manual)
The Code of Conduct for Responsible Practice of Research ensures a healthy research
environment which minimizes the incidence of misconduct in all research undertakings. The following
research misconducts must be avoided:
a. Fabrication of data: falsification of data including changing records;
b. Plagiarism: direct copying of textual material, the use of other people’s data without
acknowledgment and the use of ideas from other people without adequate attributions;
c. Misleading ascription of authorship;
d. Misleading or inaccurate data provided in the application for a research grant;
e. Negligence of the faculty adviser resulting to non-completion of the research on time;
f. Deception in proposing, carrying-out or reporting the result of the research;
g. Failure to declare or manage a serious conflict of interest;
h. Risking the safety of human participants, or the well-being of the animals or the
environment; and
i. Willful concealment or facilitation of research misconduct by others.
I. Guidelines/Procedure on the Ownership of Patent/Copyright

For those funded institutional research, the college owns the research product but the research
grantee reserves the right to ownership. Ownership of the patent and/or copyright shall be in the name
of the author(s). In case the research is published and/or manufactured and sold, the royalties ensuring
therefrom shall be shared 60% - 40% between the project grantee and the host institution (funding
agency) in favor of the former. Patent and Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) ensuring from discoveries
and inventions shall be shared 60%-40% between the project grantee and funding institution in favor of
the latter.
