factors of human culture according to JEEVANVIDYA. These five principles are in the real
sense, the Panchasheel of human culture.
Unfortunately, however, the so called material developments and improvements in
human society have been in fact responsible, for breeding inequality with a vengeance,
for wiping out nobility, understanding and tolerance, while contentment is being
systematically buried. While there can never be any legitimate objection to material
developments and improvements, they should not be pursued at the cost of human
culture, because in that case, Man is bound to deteriorate to the low levels of a beast.
JEEVANVIDYA points out,
"Man intoxicated by his ego foolisly boasts of conquering nature, forgetting the
very fact that he himself is a part and parcel of this nature itself.''
Hence civilisation and reforms, pursued with due regard to human culture can
bring heaven on earth, but if these material developments and improvements are
pushed through at the cost of sacrificing human culture, they will reduce this world to a
big, barren desert. Therefore, only when the human culture creates a beautiful world
within, it will enable Man to mould and build a beautiful world without, with the help of
material developments and improvements.
True Concept of Niyati
Now let us briefly examine what is Niyati (Providence) and its relationship with the
true universal religion as well as with the universal laws of nature, which become
instrumental for bringing about favourable and unfavourable circumstances. Man seems
to have failed to comprehenend the correct concept of Niyati. People think that Niyati is
some sort of unimaginable, vagarious, whimsical power influencing their lives. People are
under the illusion that they are simply puppets in the hands of Niyati and that they have
no control whatsoever over their destiny. With such fallacious and wrong concepts about
Niyati, these people literally ruin their lives and this is indeed the greatest tragedy of the
human race. What then is real Niyati? JEEVANVIDYA emphasises that,
"None else but Man himself creates his destiny through his good or evil thoughts,
speech and deeds and the destiny so created becomes responsible for his sorrow and
pain or pleasure and happiness."
The general concept that Man's life is totally dependent and subjugated in the
hands of God, fate or so-called destiny or Niyati, is not true. In the life of Man, ninety
percent of events are within his reach while ten percent of events can be considered as
