actions in the form of peace and happiness or pain and miseries.''

                                                Divine Invisible Bank
As explained earlier, all actions of Man are recorded skillfully and accurately by the

human tape recorder on the tape of its subtle consciousness. These actions which are
recorded, accumulate as pāpa or Punya eventually to form the basis on which Man's
future is determined. As stated earlier the unmanifested reaction of evil action is Pāpa

(पाप) while the unmanifested reaction of good action is Punya (पुण्य). Let us therefore,

consider briefly the actual working of this process in Man's life. An invaluable principle of
            Jeevanvidya states that,

Just as we have commercial banks for financial transactions, there is another very
important and wonderful 'Divine Invisible Bank in the heart of every individual.

This Divine Invisible Bank is of great significance in human life. People, whether
they are educated or uneducated, are totally unaware of the very existence of this Divine

Invisible Bank. Even great scholars and men of learning do not seem to have any
knowledge about the existence of this Divine Invisible Bank. This ignorance is most

unfortunate and is the major cause of the biggest tragedy of human life. The great harm
people do to themselves and others by behaving disgracefully and employing any foul

means to earn money and wealth or to acquire power and prestige or to obtain anything
that they keenly desire is mainly because they are totally ignorant about the existence of

this Divine Invisible Bank. The impressions of good and bad actions performed by every
individual are recorded on his subtle consciousness and these subtle impressions in the

form of Pāpa and Punya are ultimately deposited by the subconscious mind in the Divine
Invisible Bank. While transactions of commercial bank are performed by Man's conscious

mind, the transactions of this Divine Invisible Bank are performed unconsciously by his
subconscious mind. Just as our conscious mind performs the function of depositing or

withdrawing money from a commercial bank, similarly our subconscious mind performs
the function of depositing Pāpa and Punya in the Divine Invisible Bank and utilises these

deposits for bringing about favourable and unfavourable results in Man's life. Normally
every individual has to face the reactions of his good and bad actions according to the

universal laws of nature, irrespective of the fact whether these reactions materialise
immediately or in the course of time. He experiences these reactions in the form of

happiness and sorrow or pleasure and pain. In this context, it must be remembered that
reactions to all actions may not materialise immediately. For example, various types of
