In order to achieve this transformation and bring about a revolution, people must
resolutely develop the habit of wishing blessfully. Unfortunately, the situation today in
the world is such, that people are so jealous that they find it difficult to share the joy of
others, who achieve success, progress and prosperity in their lives. Similarly people also
envy those, who receive respect, honour and prestige in society. As a result of this
perverse attitude, such people develop hatred, scorn, envy and anger towards others and
eventually lose their balance of mind. These temperamentally unbalanced people start
behaving in an undesirable manner, thereby inviting their own down-fall and ruin. Hence,
JEEVANVIDYA emphatically advises people to wish blessfully..
Generally, Man is always in the habit of wishing for something. Therefore, it will be
more appropriate to describe Man as a 'wishing animal' rather than designating him as a
'thinking animal'. Basically Man is extremely selfish by nature. Hence his wishes, desires,
expectations and ambitions are constantly revolving around his 'selfishness'. Man forgets
that, just as he has his own selfish interests, others too have their own selfish
motivations. The result is, his selfishness is directed wrongly, due to which he often
experiences disasters in his life being further influenced by envy, hatred, jealousy, greed
and anger. There is an interesting story in this context. Once two men, who were bitter
enemies of each other, went into a jungle to perform penance. The purpose of the
penance was to gratify God and obtain a boon from Him. One of them succeeded in his
penance. God said to him, "Ask for any boon that you desire and I will see that your
desire is fulfilled, but I will do so on one condition. Remember, your enemy who is also
performing penance, will get twice as much of what you will receive.'' Hearing God's
condition, this person was in a dilemma. He thought, "If I ask for rupees ten lakhs, my
wretched enemy will get rupees twenty lakhs and in that case, it will certainly be my
defeat.'' Hence he decided that under no circumstances should his enemy be benefited in
any way, but if possible his enemy should be heavily penalised. After deeply deliberating
for some time, he finally asked for a boon. He said, "Oh God, let me be blind by one eye"
God said, "So be it'', and disappeared. What was the result of this boon? While this
person lost one eye, his enemy lost both eyes. There are a number of such type of
people in the world who very often indulge in such disgraceful wishing and ultimately
wreck their lives. On the contrary, there are also some intelligent persons in the world
who cleverly ask for such boons from God that they are immensely benefited. The
following is a good story to explain this aspect. Once a ninety years old blind person, but
in fine health, was advised by his good friend, "You are a healthy person, hence if you
