One of the crew said, “Why don’t we cover it with gold

leaf. The same stuff they decorate capital domes and
statues with and the signs on glass doors of expensive
            lawyers?”

We all laughed and thought that would be crazy and way
too expensive until the same guy searched in St. Louis,

found some old Italian craftsmen that did this for a living,
and got a quote that ended up being the least expensive,
lowest risk, best performing surface we could imagine.

Paul R stayed with these Italian craftsmen day and night
to make sure the gold leaf was properly applied, with no

bumps, open seams, tears, or wrinkles. Every night we
would see Paul R leave the building covered in fine gold
flake. That stuff really hung on!. We ended up with a
compact RADAR range that was second to none! A little

slower than the commercial ones, because of our power
supply and its limited software capability, but the

accuracy and sensitivity were outstanding. World class!

When we were all done and had fully checked out the

installation, we invited senior management to come take a
look. I cannot describe the look on their faces when they
saw this humongous, bright gold, parabolic reflector at

the end of our large room. They never asked how we
