The following morning he had this answer to give to
management:
1. On the question of training a younger person for his
job my answer was: “HELL NO!”
2. If I was not named as his replacement, I was going to
leave MDMSC and join the aircraft folk across the street
immediately.
3. I expected management to formally announce my
promotion to head of LOT by the release of a formal
company-wide memo within a day or two of his
departure.
4. If I met, or exceeded, Dave’s business goals and
objectives for 1986, I expected a promotion to Director in
early 1987.
Dave delivered my message that day, and the rest is
history. The story of my promotion to director is a little
strange.
