challenging. My upbringing as a young engineer,

because of my early mentors and bosses, made me focus
on expanding capability, knowledge and competence.

I think I ended up as a manager who demanded
competence of my staff, while at the same time
emphasizing that failure in the Research and

Development cycle was a norm, and not subject to
criticism, providing the work was done carefully and
               competently.

Taking risk was challenging, fun, and very occasionally

               rewarding especially with successful outcomes.
