Freeport High School ECHS students are recruited and Year Opened: 2010
selected in 8th grade by administrators, guidance
counselors and teachers. Students begin the program by 2014-15 Enrollment: 114
taking a global history 9th grade college level course. The
students are supported by both their teacher and in class Male/Female Ratio: 52:62
presentations by a professor from SUNY Farmingdale.
Students have the opportunity to continue taking college Enrollment by Race/Ethnicity:
level courses in history in grades 10-12, and English African American – 46.1%
courses in grades 11-12. Hispanic – 47.8%
Asian/Pacific Islander – 2.6%
There are many support programs in place for the students White – 3.5%
who participate in the Smart Scholars Program. The high
school has after school tutoring sessions exclusively for Percentage Free/Reduced Price Lunch
Smart Scholars students. The purpose is to make sure the (FRPL): 59%
students reach their highest potential. The high school also
offers an after school activity entitled SWAG (Students Average Number of College Credits
Who Achieve Greatness). This organization allows Smart Earned by Grade Level:
Scholars students to participate in wonderful community 9th grade – 3
service activities. These activities enrich the lives of Early 10th grade – 3
College High School Students and better the community. 11th grade – 9
12th grade – 3
FHS ECHS works closely with SUNY Farmingdale.
Farmingdale offers a summer program each year on Average Number of College Credits
campus for Smart Scholar students to take advantage of. Earned by 2014 Graduates: 12
The program continues to grow and is building a college
going culture throughout the Freeport School District. 2014 Graduation Rate: 100%
