Photovoltaics
— Module selection
— Layout optimization to avoid shading issue from penthouse areas
Built Ecology will update the energy model before the end of the Design Development phase in order to incorporate additional
design information and re-benchmark against project goals, and explore these opportunities further.
2.3 WATER
2.3.1 PERFORMANCE TARGETS
PROJECT GOALS
14th @ Irving will target water reduction use of regulated indoor water fixtures at least 40% better than EPA baseline. The project
will also aim to completely offset landscape potable water use though drip irrigation and the use of collected rain/storm water for
irrigation.
2.3.2 CLIMATIC OPPORTUNITIES
MONTHLY RAINFALL
New York City has steady annual rainfall amounts. This is advantageous because it means there is a reliable supply of rainwater
available for irrigation and for reuse within the building. There will be no need for large tanks for seasonal storage; the tanks can
be sized for regular collection and drawdown.
