As winter ends and the ice on Newfound Lake starts to melt, there’s a noticeable change in the air. The days grow longer, birds return, and snow begins to drip from rooftops. While win- ter lingers in New Hampshire, March brings the first real signs of spring.
For many, March marks the start of maple sugaring season. Steam rises from sugar shacks around the area as sap boils into syrup. Local sugarhouses in the area welcome visitors to watch the process. ALEXANDRIA – The Easter Bunny will be hopping to Alexandria on April 12th to be part of the second an- nual Easter Egg Hunt, kicking off beside the old Town Hall on Washburn Road, and the fun-loving bunny hopes to see a lot of smiling faces take part in this event for people of all ages.
The excitement will get underway at 10 a.m. with the youngest children heading out on a timed hunt for eggs first. From there age groups will in- crease until all children up to 17 years old have taken their turn.
Adults, don’t despair. Once the children’s hunts are over, those 18 and older will be directed to head across the road to the church lawn for their special egg hunt. The only requirement is that adult participants must register (for free) before their hunt begins
so they can then be rewarded with the prizes won in the eggs they find.
“This year’s prizes for the adults include [hundreds of dollars] worth of local gift cards and merchandise from
amazing local businesses that we should all support,” said the Alexandria Park and Rec Committee, which hosts the event.
Besides the egg hunts, there will be games both indoors
and outdoors, weather permit- ting. A raffle will also be held for items such as a handmade afghan, artwork, a cupboard, two special Easter Baskets, and more. All money raised
