PRIMARY CHAIN INSPECTION CAUTION Figure 1-22. The gasket (1) between the primary chain inspection cover and the chaincase cover must be replaced each time the cover is removed. Failure to replace gasket may result in chaincase lubricant leaks. 11WARNING 1WARNING prevent accidental vehicle start-up, which could cause death or serious injury, disconnect negative (-) battery cable before proceeding. (00048a) Disconnect negative battery cable. With motorcycle upright and level, remove the primary chain inspection cover (2). Remove and discard gasket.
