REAR WHEEL Block motorcycle underneath frame so weight of motor- cycle is off of rear wheel. Remove saddlebags for extra working clearance if nec- See 2.40 BELT GUARD/DEBRIS DEFLECTOR. Remove belt guard and debris deflector from rear fork. Inspect wheel bearing end play and service bearings if necessary. See 2.9 SEALED WHEEL BEARINGS. Label wheel spacers for location (left or right) and orien- tation (fork side or wheel side). Remove rear brake pads. See 1.8 BRAKE PADS AND See Figure 2-13. Loosen jam nut (5) and retract axle adjuster (6). Remove spring clip (1), axle nut (2), washer (3) and collar (4) from left side of axle. CAUTION Support rea
