Chapter 11 Tools Operation

11.1 Power Short Measurement

01. Switch the multi-meter function to 200Ω.
02. Connect red probe to ground.
03. Use black probe to measure locations 3V, 5V, 12V and 5VSB.
Notes: On some models, the voltage 3V impedance closes to 10Ω. The other voltages

impedance is over 200Ω.

11.2 Voltage Measurement

11.2.1 Power Short Measurement

01. Switch multi-meter to DC V.
02. Plug black probe to [COM] and red probe to [VΩmA].

03. For unknown voltage measure, must set multi-meter from high voltage to low. (For
regular M/B voltage measure, please start from 20V)
04. Connect black probe to ground and red probe to the check point.
Below is CPU VCORE measuring for 8IPE775-G: the multi-meter show the VCORE
voltage is 1.38V
