To finish, in natural fiber continue for at least three more tucks; use five
more tucks in synthetics. Then cut off the ends. With fiber, leave half-inch
tag ends, which will work themselves back in and hold. With synthetics,
fuse the ends to prevent them from slipping out. Roll the finished splice
(8) in the hands or underfoot to even it out.
