Stage-X
After the Exporter receives the above documents from the Clearing
and Forwarding Agent he completes the remaining formalities. The exporter
files a claim with the Maritime Commissioner of Central Excise or Assistant
Commissioner in the Port town for rebate of Central Excise duty or for
getting credit in the bond account, as the case may be. Side by side,
shipment advice is sent to the importer. The following documents are
forwarded alongwith the shipment advice:
1. A non-negotiable copy of Bill of Lading.
2. Customs invoice.
3. Commercial invoice; and
4. Packing list.
Stage-XI
The following documents are presented to the negotiating bank:
1. GR form (duplicate copy).
2. Bill of exchange, first and second of Exchange.
3. Full set of clean, on board Bill of lading (all negotiable copies)
and one non negotiable copy.
4. Original Letter of Credit.
5. Commercial invoice (two copies).
6. Customs invoices, where necessary.
7. Certificate of origin (two copies).
8. Packing List (Four Copies).
9. Marine Insurance Policy (two copies).
10. Bank certificate in the prescribed form (two copies).
11. Additional copies of the commercial invoice to be certified by the
bank and returned to the exporter, and
12. Consular Invoice, where necessary.
Stage-XII
The processing at the negotiating bank is done in the following manner:
All the documents are scrutinised with reference to the terms and
conditions of the original Letter of Credit. Thereafter, a set of following
documents is transmitted to the banker of the importer by the first air mail
followed by a second set of these documents by the second air mail to
ensure that in case the first set is lost, the importer can take delivery of
the consignment on the basis of the second set of documents:
