TrumpVote Project Summary Conservative Engagement Technology
A Potential Technology Win for the Republican Party
We believe the political “technology” aspect of TrumpVote will have huge appeal to the 18-29 demographic. That
is important as in the 2018 mid-term exit polls, Democrats carried 67% of voters aged 18-29 in House elections and
that represented their best performance among adults under 30 in any House election since 1986. It’s true that
Millennials are getting more engaged and active in politics, but they aren't becoming Republicans.
A clear red flag for Republicans is that the young people who broke decisively against the party in the 2018 mid-
terms are likely to comprise a larger share of voters in 2020. The most basic reason younger voters pose a larger
Republican threat in 2020 is that the Millennial Generation and Generation X will comprise a larger share of the
eligible voter pool than in 2016. Those three generations combined represented about 55% of all eligible voters in
2016, and are expected to rise to about 63% in 2020.
Generational replacement is changing the eligible voter
landscape. As the World War II, Silent Generation, and
Baby Boomers pass out of the electorate, the share of the
eligible voting pool comprised of Generation X,
Millennials and Post-Millennials is on the rise. It is
projected that these three generations - which are more
racially diverse and college-educated than the
generations they are replacing - will continue growing to
about two-thirds of eligible voters by 2024 and nearly
three-fourths by 2028. And more voters mean more
races lost by the Republicans if they can’t increase their
appeal to more younger voters. Our technology will do
that.
That being said, supporting true Civic Engagement
Technology like TrumpVote.online could be a huge win
for the Republicans. While both parties claim they are
th
listening and they want to hear from their constituents, the jury is still out. In fact, on March 18 2013 the
Republican National Committee’s 100-page Growth and Opportunity Project report was released.
A recommendation was “We need to do a better job connecting people to our policies.” Have they done that?
Another recommendation was “We must embrace and champion comprehensive immigration reform. If we do not,
our Party’s appeal will continue to shrink to its core constituencies only.” Other than Trump’s focus during the last
two years, have they really done that? The Republican Party needs to start walking the walk, connecting with the
electorate, and engaging their base in the policy making process or the Democrats will continue to expand.
