Ubuntu! “How could one of us be happy when
the others are sad?”
This philosophy and way of life speak about our
interconnectedness. You can't exist as a human
all by yourself. Our choices affect others. Every
day we have crossroads and decisions. With
each decision, we either choose to add value to
another human life or to take it away. We are
always choosing one or the other. Even the
decision to do nothing is still a decision.
Part of walking in awareness is understanding
that we are responsible for the condition in
which we leave others. How has their encounter
with us affected them? What lasting impression
have I left?
We often talk about leaving a legacy for future
generations. Often, we are referring to finances
or inheritance, but what about our daily legacy?
We are building a memorial to ourselves with
every sentence, every text message, every email,
every glance. Realizing this certainly changes
our perspective, doesn’t it?
