embarrassment began to be exposed, and he
said, "You don't need one. Once you have one
in the cage, any others that enter it are pulled
down by the others that are trapped." I never
gave it much thought at the time, but it did
seem strange to me. Now when I think about it,
I realize what a great analogy to use when it
comes to change. Anytime you try to step out
of the norm, others will extend their pinchers,
latch on, and attempt to pull you back down.
They may very well love you, but they want you
to stay in the trap with them. Misery does love
company.
Taking responsibility is the first step of many
different systems of help and change. For as
long as you believe that someone or something
else is responsible for your growth, nothing is
going to change. The world will continue to
hold up the same merciless mirror, reflecting
back the same life experience until you agree to
take the helm and chart your own course.
If you are not living the life you dream of, and
most people aren’t, it’s not the fault of your
parent’s, your spouse, or your children. It’s not
