The “Black Out” days………
War with China was at its peak, when complete “Black Out”
was announced. “Black Out” is period during a war in which
towns and buildings are made dark so that they cannot
be seen by enemy planes.
We pasted black paper sheets on glass windows and sealed
slits to avoid light sneaking out.
As local scouts, we were outside when “Black Out” happened.
It was so dark that I could barely see my own hand. We kept
patrolling until we covered all houses in our locality.
Sometimes we just have to put off light in order to keep the
life-light ablaze…..
