4.9 Personal Protective Equipment.

The nature of the work carried out by the company means that, following risk assessment, the use
of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is used to increase the safety of workers and others affected
       by works.

Typical types of PPEs used in the company include:-

       • T shirts
       • Safety Footwear (specific sites).
       • Gloves.
       • Eye protection – safety glasses
       • Waterproof external wear (where required)
PPE will only be used as a last resort to deal with workplace hazards.

Where PPE is used the following will apply:-
       • All PPE will be issued free of charge to employees and will be readily available at work sites
       • Expert advice will be sought in the specification and provision of PPE
       • Clear instruction and information will be provided as to when and where PPE is required
       • All PPE is purchased from reputable suppliers and comply to industry standards (CE marked)
       • Where required provision will be made for the storage and cleaning of PPE
       • Employees are required to report all damaged PPE

In exceptional circumstances staff may require Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) e.g. dust
masks. In these cases staff will be trained, provided with suitable RPE and subject to a face fit test
to ensure that the RPE provides the necessary level of protection.
