Page 3 - Jaymee Garrood Follow Your Dreams
P. 3
With further shouts building experience, the first substantial
incident came with a quickly developing house fire, bringing
all the training-based skills to the fore. A huge feeling of
belonging and achievement fuelled Team G, as attention
now turned to the long drive north to Fat Cats Moto Parc for
round three of the BWMA. The next big challenge of riding
deep sand, something Team Garrood had no time to
prepare for previously.
With some off-track excursions in practice Jaymee qualified
ok just outside the top ten with some local riders adding to
the championship mix, however race pace looked good.
Race one started well getting the sand scope shod husky
off the line in 5th surrounded by the usual suspects, however
as the race unfolded the #999 got cross rutted coming out of a
corner and cartwheeled its pilot off track with the bike heading directly to the perplexed championship organiser Howard Marriot,
who nearly dropped his camera to get out of the way of the rapidly approaching husky minus it’s rider. Somewhat shaken Jaymee
remounted to bring home some points.
Race two again started well and this time a more
consistent top ten finish was achieved with the downside
of an early race incident seeing IMBA teammate Charlotte
Hall suffer a damaged shoulder which would haunt her
championship.
Race three was a mixture of hard riding, fatigue enforced
errors and sand blasting for Jaymee, clearly greater
experience and practice is required to master the deep
sand, something which we would need to address in the
coming months, but on the whole the drive back was a
positive journey for team G, if not a little battered and
bruised with sand in all the wrong places!
Fast forward and the next championship round was upon us, Wroxton! And we were all hoping for a better overall result having
ridden the track a few times and loving the pending airtime.
With a couple of minor changes to the iTech Husky Jaymee qualified in the top ten and prepared for battle to commence.
With a solid start, the #999 machine dropped a few places in the third and fourth corner section, dropping Jaymee into the
clutches of the pack, but after a couple of quick laps the iTech Husky
pull back up to the lead group and finished the race well
Race 2 was a better start and first lap, seeing the Jaymee run
with pack for the bulk or the race, exploring new lines and
options over the key double and triple jumps.
