chainsaw wildfire training may remove larger trees obstructing trails. Rangers will also monitor
              trails for deteriorating conditions and needed repairs. All safety concerns will be reported to the
              trails work group; repairs will be done only as a last resort when requested by trails staff. The trails
              work group, in coordination with lead rangers and operations supervisors, will manage trail closures
              due to muddy conditions.

              Ranger Services Supervisor

              Overall Job Objective:
              Under general direction of the Community Connections and Partnerships Division manager,
              supervises and coordinates the ranger/naturalist work group, carries out the city’s open space
              charter, and meets the OSMP Department’s vision, master plan goals, and overall department
              priorities.

              Duties and Responsibilities:
              Manages the ranger/naturalist work group, a highly specialized professional work group responsible
              for patrol and regulations enforcement on OSMP land, wildfire protection, search and rescue, and
              education and field support. This includes developing an annual work plan to incorporate the
              following:
              1.  Partnering with the operations supervisor on hiring selections, evaluations, scheduling, and
                  conflict resolution for the ranger/naturalist team.
                  •  Identifies goals and work plans for the ranger/naturalist team;
                  •  Monitors and evaluates the program to ensure that public safety and department
                     environmental protection goals are met;
                  •  Responds to public inquiries and problems related to ranger/naturalist services;
                  •  Approves and oversees implementation of training and performance standards including:
                     ➢  Protocols for officer certification and re-certification;
                     ➢  Ongoing training to ensure enforcement methods and skills are current and consistent
                          with best enforcement practices;
                     ➢  Continual improvement processes for customer service, environmental education, and
                          naturalist skills; and
                     ➢  Identifying and supporting professional development for the ranger/naturalist staff.
                  •  Develops and models teamwork and ongoing staff development standards to ensure staff is
                     capable in all aspects of ranger/naturalist service delivery; and
                  •  Prepares and presents annual reports and summaries of ranger services to document trends
                     and activities on OSMP properties.
              2.  Developing and implementing Continuous Improvement Plans (CIPs) and changes to policies
                  and procedures based on ranger activities and incident data analysis, appropriate best practices,
                  public feedback, and city council and OSMP leadership direction;
