3. Working proactively with Community Connections and Partnerships Division leadership and
work groups, as well as the community relations officer, to develop and implement a
community relations strategy;
4. Participating in departmental planning efforts to coordinate with other work groups and
divisions in the department to resolve immediate and long-term problems;
5. Serving as a leader on cross-functional work teams within the OSMP Department and the city;
6. Coordinating with other city and county departments, including Boulder’s police and fire
departments, City Attorney’s Office, Parks and Recreation Department, Boulder County
Sheriff’s Office, and Boulder County Fire Department to advance city and department goals and
ensure effective, cooperative relationships are maintained. This includes ensuring appropriate
policies and procedures are synchronized;
7. Being responsible for incident command in complex or unusual emergency situations on OSMP
properties, or as needed by other law enforcement agencies under mutual aid agreements;
8. Maintaining current certifications as required, including Colorado Peace Officer Standards and
Training (POST), Emergency First Responder, and National Wildfire Coordinating Group
(NWCG) Wildland Firefighter Type I; and
9. Other:
• Performs related duties as required to meet the city’s needs;
• Takes proper safety precautions to prevent accidents. Responsible for the safety of self,
others, materials, and equipment. Uses all required safety equipment and follows all safety
regulations, policies, and procedures. Reports all accidents and damage to city property; and
• Responsible for knowing and complying with all city and department policies, participating
in professional training and development, and adhering to attendance and workplace attire
policies.
Operations Supervisor
Overall Job Objective:
To supervise and coordinate the ranger/naturalist work group on OSMP properties under the ranger
services supervisor’s general direction and to perform related duties as required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervises the ranger/naturalist work group, which includes:
1. Providing employees with day-to-day directions and evaluations related to performing
enforcement, interpretative, and resource management duties;
2. Partnering with the ranger services supervisor on hiring selections, evaluations, scheduling, and
conflict resolution for the ranger/naturalist team:
• Develops and implements training and performance standards including:
➢ Protocols for officer certification and re-certification;
➢ Ongoing training to ensure enforcement methods and skills are current and consistent
with best enforcement practices;
➢ Training coordination with Boulder Police Department and other agencies; and
