➢  Continual improvement processes for customer service, environmental
                              education, and naturalist skills.
                  •  Identifies goals and work plans for the ranger/naturalist team;

                  •  Develops and models standards for teamwork and ongoing staff development to ensure staff
                     is capable in all aspects of ranger/naturalist service delivery;
                  •  Responds to public inquiries and problems related to ranger/naturalist services; and
                  •  Maintains the record-keeping system for public contact and enforcement activities and
                     analyzes data to identify problems and prioritize patrol and education activities.
                     Recommends changes to policies and standard operating procedures based on analysis.
              3.  Providing on-site leadership to ranger/naturalist staff responding to critical incidents; includes
                 serving as the liaison to other responding agencies as appropriate;
              4.  Developing and modeling standards for customer service and naturalist skills that foster
                 appreciation of OSMP use to sustain the land’s natural values for current and future generations;
              5.  Coordinating OSMP fire response activities. This includes the following:
                  •  Provides oversight for OSMP responses to wildland fire incidents;
                  •  Coordinates OSMP staff training relative to fire prevention and suppression tactics; and
                  •  Maintains records for firefighting training, certification, and qualification levels for all
                     OSMP firefighting staff.
              6.   Maintaining all required qualifications including Colorado Peace Officer Standards and
                  Training (POST), Emergency First Responder and National Wildfire Coordinating Group
                  (NWCG) Firefighter Type II or higher. Performs all duties and tasks required of the ranger/
                  naturalist position; and
              7.   Other:
                  •  Builds positive working relationships with peers from other agencies with whom rangers
                     regularly collaborate and coordinate;
                  •  Performs related duties as required to meet the city’s needs;
                  •  Takes proper safety precautions to prevent accidents. Responsible for the safety of self,
                     others, materials, and equipment. Uses all required safety equipment and follows all safety
                     regulations, policies, and procedures. Reports all accidents on and damage to city property;
                     and
                  •  Knows and complies with all city and department policies, participates in professional
                     training and development, and adheres to attendance and workplace attire policies.

              Lead Ranger

              Overall Job Objective:
              To perform lead worker duties in the areas of patrol, code enforcement, visitor education and
              outreach, and interpretive tasks on OSMP properties; to prepare and deliver environmental
              education programs; and perform related duties as required.
