First, we are confirmed by the Holy Spirit who

            lives in our hearts.
“The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that

we are God's children” (Romans 8:16).

When we accept Christ as Lord and Saviour, the
Holy Spirit takes up residence in our hearts and

gives us assurance that He is present and that we

belong to Him, and He also teaches and explains
spiritual things to us (1 Corinthians 2:13-14), “13:

These things we also speak, not in words which man’s

wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches,
comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14: But the

natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of
God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know

them, because they are spiritually discerned.” Thereby
confirming that we are new creations in Christ (2

Corinthians 5:17) “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he

is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold,
            all things have become new.”

Secondly we are also confirmed in the faith by the
evidence of our salvation. 1 John 1:5-10 tells us

                                                                     pg. 23
