give Donna as much comfort and support as possible and to help light her
way through her darkness. I hope she got some relief from my call.
Later that day, my sister in law (Jill) called me. She had heard about Donna’s
diagnosis and wanted to share her thoughts about it. Jill also reminded me of
a couple of conversation she and I had over the last several months. One
had been that I had been in sort of mid-life crisis before all this happened and
I was wanting to find my passion and doing something that I could help
others.
We'd also had another conversation about how stressful this eye experience
had been and if there was some way I could help just one person have a
better experience, by sharing my experience, all of this would be worth
it. Then she said, Teri, the fact that Donna has this, is your opportunity to do
exactly what you wanted. To give light to someone else’s journey. It was
amazing! Jill was right. I remembered the conversations she and I had and I
too now realized everything I had asked for, was coming together. I also
knew that not only did I want to share my light with Donna, I wanted to share it
with others that might go through something like this. At that moment, I knew
I needed to write my experience down. I could share my journey, hoping to
light the way for someone else.
