• Request necessary resources for plant operations as part of annual budget
process, requisitions suppliers, chemical, equipment, and other resources;
• Establish, maintain and analyze a variety of reports as required as needed for
effective management decision making;
• To motivate, coach and review the performance of subordinates, supervisors
and staff, ensures proper training and certification of assigned staff;
• Submit a report to Operation Centre on any failure or breakdown; and
• Provide first response to emergency situations.
Technician
The Technician performs technical and supervisory work in the operations,
maintenance and laboratory analysis at water treatment plants. Key accountability is
to maintain a continuous check on the operating efficiency of their assigned plants
and develop improved methods and techniques to achieve economical and efficient
plant operation. He is assisted by four (4) Operators per shift. His duties include:
• Make regular tours of plan and check engines, generators, pumps, setting
tanks, filters, chlorinators and other equipment for proper functioning;
• Check influent and effluent points for visual detection of any irregularities as
well as proper functioning;
• Advice on mixing and add wide variety of chemicals and compounds;
• Advice chemical feed to control treatment process;
• Review data from various maters, gauges and dials, weekly and monthly
activities may enter data into computer, review computerized information for
trends and problems or anomaly;
• Collect water samples and performs standard plant laboratory chemical and
physical tests;
• Perform general preventive and scheduled maintenance and assists
maintenance staff on major maintenance and repairs;
• Advise and coach operators on regulating and adjust motors, pumps, blowers,
valves and other apparatus to meet changing operating conditions;
• Monitor building and equipment conditions including cleanliness of building
conditions and grounds maintenance activities;
• Perform auditing of water treatment plant;
• Perform routine inspection and calibration of laboratory equipment;
• To determine the need for special attention to operating or maintenance
requirements and provide instructions for other shift for their execution;
• Supervise and provide training to operators in work methods and procedures;
• Submit a report to Operation Centre on any failure or breakdown; and
• Provide first response to emergency situations.
