The strawberry leopard is found at the Madikwe Game Reserve in South Africa. It is a condition
called erythrism. It can be either from the overproduction of the red pigmentation or the under
production of the dark pigmentation. Mutants are due to spontaneous genetic changes or
expression of the recessive gene. The recessive genes show up when there is too much
interbreeding. Interbreeding can be in the wild or in captivity.
