Would you believe me if I told you that what you "think" is more important than what you "do" for achieving and maintaining healthy weight loss for health?
If being overweight wasn't linked to so many unhealthy and downright deadly physical and mental problems, carrying around a few extra pounds wouldn't be a big deal BUT it is! Being overweight or obese dramatically raises the odds that you will encounter the following health problems:
• Heart disease, heart attack and stroke
• Any of a number of cancers
• All-cause mortality
• Premature death
• Diabetes
• A lifetime of emotional issues, including low self-esteem, self-hatred and
destructive behavior
If carrying too much body fat is so bad for you, and so many people have this problem, how come is it so hard to lose weight and keep it off?
The answer is simple. People are being given the wrong information. You are told that if you take a certain pill, you will lose weight. That new diet you heard about the other day is finally going to work for you.
The problem here is not what you are being told. It's that while a healthy diet, exercise and some medications really can help you lose weight, you are not addressing the core problem first.
The one, simple thing you need to do before you follow any weight loss advice is to change your mindset and break through psychological barriers.
Don't believe the lie that change is slow. The minute you decide that you are going to develop a mindset that leads to health and well-being through weight loss, that change is instant. Then you have to take action on your new mindset.
Lasting weight loss requires a major shift in mindset, habits and behaviors and this requires an earnest effort in preparing yourself for a major change.
