Captain’s Report

Well here I am nearly six months into the job. It’s been a very busy time for me
and my wife Liz with all the golf and social events. In addition I have had a lot of
meetings over the last six months with extra ones to discuss aspects of the recent
strategic review and management restructure. More of that later.

From the golfing point of view it has been quite a successful few months both for
the club and for me. The year started with me being picked to play in our team in
the first round of the Kindred Foursomes away at Barton on Sea. I partnered Tom Robson our Assistant Secretary
(+3 handicap). This was quite an experience. We managed to win and the team won overall. With a different

partner we won through to the finals day at Lee on Solent sadly losing the semi-final but winning the 3/4 playoff.
36 holes in one day took its toll.

In early July the Rowlands Castle team of myself, Chris Bodey (Ladies Captain), Pete Dore (V. Captain) and Janet Doel
(Ladies V. Captain) won the Promethean trophy at Royal Winchester Golf Club. The first time over the 25 or so years
that the competition has been running.
