New Captain of our Ladies
Section elected at AGM.
Janet Doel
At our AGM on Wednesday 11 October I was elected Captain of the Ladies Section
for the next 12 months.
Our outgoing Ladies Captain, Chris Bodey, has had an excellent year. Not only has
she managed the Section efficiently but has also played some great golf! Chris
played particularly well during County Week at Brockenhurst Manor GC in May and
indeed at other competitions during the season. She has been a great support to
me and I know will continue to be during my captaincy. At the AGM Chris received
gifts from both the Ladies Section and the Ladies Committee to show their
appreciation for her hard work during her year as Ladies Captain.
Val Easton is to be my Vice Captain and is delighted with her new role. She is
looking forward to playing golf at different courses and preparing to take over for the
2019 season. Diana Littler remains as Hon Treasurer for her third and final year
and Clare Jury steps into the role of Hon Secretary.
Other appointment for this year are:
Team Captains:
Stoneham Cup – Jackie Cushion
North Hants Trophy – Debbie Tapply
Knight Cup – Angie Steels
Hayling Trophy – Gillian Lovegrove
Annodata (2 teams) – Shirley Stanton & Lynda Hewer
County Delegate : Liz Wade
Thank you to everyone for volunteering. I know it all takes time and effort.
Looking back to the 2017 season we had a pretty steady year in respect of friendlies.
We played sixteen matches in total. In Home fixtures we won five, drew one and lost
two. In Away fixtures we won at Cowdray Park, we had draws at Meon Valley &
Royal Winchester and had five losses. We also have a new fixture for 2018 against
Hamptworth and hopefully another one that is under negotiation. In the internal
matches where we played against the seniors & juniors, I think we’ll just say that ‘we
turned up and had a nice time’.
