Ladies Section Recognition Award for Mrs Sonia Price

At the recent Ladies Section Annual General Meeting a presentation was made that is not
often presented. That is the Recognition Award.

This lady has been a member of Rowlands Castle Golf Club for over 55 years, having joined
the club in March 1963, and who still continues to play regularly.

This year to date she has played in no less than nineteen qualifying competitions. Yes, you
may now have guessed it is Sonia Price.

About twenty five years ago Sonia came second in the County Foursomes held that year at
Stoneham. However, another fantastic achievement was this year, achieving the third place
with her daughter Mandy Yerbury as her partner, in the Hampshire County Foursomes held

at Weybrook Park on Thursday July 20 . Obviously, her form has remained fairly constant.

Her lowest handicap was, I think, 15 but even today she has is an extremely useful player and

partner with a handicap of 32 and in June next year celebrates her 90 birthday

I would like to mention here some of her extraordinary golf achievements. She regularly
plays in the Summer and Winter Foursomes. Until 2015 played in the County Vets
competitions every year. It is known that Sonia is fiercely competitive even in rollups and,
she never gives up no matter what the weather. ( An example to us all )

Today when playing in the AGM cup she managed to achieve a Birdie on the 14 hole.
