CONTRACTOR QUALIFICATION
REQUIREMENTS
As a condition for doing business with Vulcan, a contractor must be committed
to the safety and health of its own workers and Vulcan employees, customers,
and visitors. Vulcan evaluates a contractor's commitment to safety, health and
the environment, and its qualification to perform work for Vulcan by considering
the following issues:
Safety and Environmental Plans Ͳ You have been retained for your expertise and
we expect you to apply your specialized skill to identify, eliminate and control
hazards. If requested by Vulcan, a written safety or environmental plan or Injury
Illness Prevention Plan (I2P2) must be provided to demonstrate to Vulcan that
you have anticipated and planned steps to address the specific safety, health and
environmental hazards that are associated with your work activities. If such a
plan is not available, then immediately notify your designated Vulcan
representative.
Accident, Incident, and Injury Experience – Tier 1 Contractors are required to
provide Vulcan with information about injuries, work hours and incidence rates
for OSHA recordable cases and MSHA reportable cases, and Experience
Modification Rates (EMR) during each of the preceding three years. Such
information should be provided to Vulcan's Contract Coordinator or other
designated Vulcan representative. Vulcan may request additional information to
help evaluate your safety performance.
Compliance History – Tier 1 Contractors are required to provide information that
shows a complete MSHA and OSHA violation history during the preceding three
years. The information will need to show the type of alleged violations occurring,
the severity of enforcement actions, and the resulting civil penalties.
In addition, Tier 1 Contractors are required to provide information on any
environmental incidents during the preceding three years. Information to
include: type and description of the environmental incident, regulatory agencies
involved, any enforcement activity and/or associated fines or penalties.
