i. Contractors must conduct regular jobsite safety meetings with their
employees, and subcontractors.
j. Contractors must conduct frequent (at least once per shift) workplace
inspections, document them, and correct all hazards promptly.
k. Contractors must ensure mobile equipment inspections are conducted
before equipment is used during a shift and correct defects affecting safety
or have it taken out of service as required by regulation.
l. Contractors must enforce its own, as well as applicable Vulcan, safety and
environmental requirements and all applicable safety, health and
environmental regulations. If unclear on rules or regulations contractor
shall notify Vulcan.
m. Whenever contractors have hazardous materials delivered and used onͲsite
it must be done in a manner to prevent the release of contaminants to the
environment (air, water, soil) and upon completion of the work, those
materials must be removed from the site.
TRAINING
It is the exclusive responsibility of all contractors to provide complete training
for their employees as required by law. This includes, but is not limited to, all
mandatory training required pursuant to 30 CFR Part 46 (MSHA) for surface
mines and 30 CFR Part 48 for underground mines and all pertinent regulationͲ
specific training required under 29 CFR Part 1910 (OSHA General Industry)
and/or 29 CFR Part 1926 (OSHA Construction). All contractor personnel must
receive siteͲspecific hazard training Ͳ pursuant to 30 CFR §46.11 Ͳ before being
exposed to mine hazards. Once initial contractor personnel have received such
training from Vulcan, it will be the responsibility of the contractor to perform,
and certify performance of, siteͲspecific hazard training. See discussion of siteͲ
specific hazard training below. Hazard training is also required for all workers at
underground mines pursuant to §48.11.
IMMINENT DANGER
If an imminent danger (any condition or practice which could reasonably be
expected to cause death or serious physical harm) is identified, the contractor,
consistent with applicable Federal law, should immediately withdraw all exposed
