INSURANCE AND INDEMNIFICATION
REQUIREMENTS
A signed Indemnification Agreement or Hold Harmless Agreement and
Certificate of Insurance (Form I) are required from all contractors and subͲ
contractors.
The Certificate of Insurance must meet all requirements specified on the
Indemnification Agreement (Form I).
No work can proceed until all insurance and indemnification requirements are
met.
BASIC PROCEDURES
In order to perform work on Vulcan property or at Vulcan worksites, all
contractors and subcontractors must comply with the following basic
requirements:
a. Each contractor must appoint a Contractor Representative who will be
responsible for resolving all safety and health issues that pertain to its work
activities.
b. Contractors must participate in a contractor preͲjob meeting.
c. If required, Contractors must obtain an MSHA ID number before starting
work on mine property.
d. Contractors must review all siteͲspecific hazard and environmental
information with all employees and subͲcontractors.
e. Contractors must ensure all that employees and subcontractors have
received any mandated MSHA or OSHA or environmental training.
f. Contractors must have a working knowledge of MSHA and OSHA regulations
and comply with all applicable requirements.
g. Contractors must perform work according to their safety and environmental
plans to ensure that safety, health and environmental hazards are
controlled.
h. Whenever contractor work exposes Vulcan employees or unrelated
contractor employees to a hazard, the Contractor Representative will
immediately notify Vulcan and/or the unrelated contractor of the hazard(s)
and take immediate corrective action.
