Sports Events

In addition to those attending simply for the
celebration, 27 units entered teams into the sport
and military skills events. Teams of between 6 to
11 personnel took part in volleyball and tug-of-war
tournaments, competed in a Triple-Crown style military
skills challenge and raced each other over an inflatable
assault course. The team from 1st Battalion The
Mercian Regiment were crowned event champions, with
the Royal Tank Regiment winning a specially engraved
commemorative bottle of AGC 25 port for being the
fastest team over the obstacle course; rather fitting as
both teams are from 1 Armoured Infantry Brigade and
both helped with the final stages of the event set up. The
small prize giving was presided over by Colonel Mike
Sykes, who congratulated all those who had taken part
and thanked those present for taking time to attend and
celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Corps.
