Nomination Recognition 2017
Report by Cross Functional Team
CATEGORY: CROSS FUNCTIONAL TEAM AWARD
PROJECT: Distribution Laboratory in Wooster
CATEGORY: CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT
NOMINATOR: Jonathan Johnson
SPONSOR:
LEADER: 998,8500
PROFILE:
Describe the situation or event related to the individual's or team's performance.
Placement and preparation construction was a challenge. Managing multiple
contractors with various different disciplines that needed to have their work
coordinated effectively and seamlessly to prevent disruptions was handled by the
two leaders extremely well. It was hard to remember that this was the first big
capital project the two had lead.
Completing this project saved the company from continuing to use outside
laboratories cost thousands of dollars per test. That savings was always in the
teams mind and showed in every action they made.
Describe in detail the individual's or team's notable behaviors.
Both team leaders jumped in when needed. Several times grey areas would come
up when one contractors work stopped before another contractors work would start
and William and Kenneth stepped in drilling holes or anchoring bolts, removing pipe
pieces or just sweeping the floors they did it all.
The team rallied around the project goal. While many teams do this, this team
embraced it without the concept ever being taught or communicated to them and
this showed maturity within the team not always seen for first time team leaders!
What were the results of the individual’s or team’s behaviors?
The team, under Kenneth and William's leadership met the timing and installed the
new equipment on budget.
