Nomination Recognition 2017

        Report by Individual Nominee

       CATEGORY: COURAGEOUS COMMUNICATOR

       NOMINEE NOMINATOR DEPARTMENT
Nicole Smith Gregory Sliwinski Development Testing Lab 400600

Describe the situation or event related to the individual's or team's performance.

Speaking up and advocating for an approach in the face of project momentum can be challenging. Nicole
advocated in a collaborative manner, effectively communicating not only her concerns but also presenting a
path forward that the project team could ultimately coalesce around. The project was able to move forward
with a more streamlined testing approach and elimination of wasted resources.

Describe in detail the individual's or team's notable behaviors.
Nicole was persistent in her approach, collaboratively working with others to understand their point of view
while maintaining focus on moving the project forward in a more effective way.

What were the results of the individual’s or team’s behaviors?
Through Nicole's willingness to speak up and question the very extensive scope of testing initially put forward
for the Supromax reformulation project, a much more focused "phased testing" path was selected which
enabled the project to move forward without the need for creating (and testing) multiple formulation variants
and hundreds and hundreds of samples. This approach not only saved money and time, but helped ensure that
lab resources weren't tied up performing redundant tests that would ultimately have to be repeated once a final
       formulation path is chosen.

       CONTRIBUTORS:
