Nomination Recognition 2017

        Report by Individual Nominee

       CATEGORY:  HOW MIGHT WE...

       NOMINEE                 NOMINATOR             DEPARTMENT
       Daniel Willis Gregory Sliwinski Development Testing Lab 400600

       Describe the situation or event related to the individual's or team's performance.

       Performance shortcomings were identified by some high profile counter-mount customers during the summer
       resulting from the use of Chameleon II formulations in counter-mount systems with restrictors installed. By
       asking "How might we?", Dan identified a method that can be used to measure and quantify foam breakdown;
       through his efforts direct formulation-to-formulation comparisons could be made, thereby helping inform
       customer response approaches and future continuous improvement efforts.

       Describe in detail the individual's or team's notable behaviors.
       Dan takes a very analytical approach to examining different test method options and seeks to truly understand
       the drivers of variation. He's not satisfied with the status quo or superficial answers, but rather digs beyond the
       surface to look for how might we deliver superior products to our customers. Dan is persistent in his search for
       technical truth and understanding.

       What were the results of the individual’s or team’s behaviors?
       Improved understanding and measurement of foam quality and the ability of foam to resist breaking down,
       particularly in counter-mount systems.
