test Himself—sending His only Son, the Christ, into that
same Temple mount to be ridiculed and sentenced to cruci-
fixion.
With forewarnings from His great Hebrew prophets, God
had the holy Temple built and destroyed twice over, on this
same piece of ground.
The Moslems had almost as much regard for that singu-
lar site as the Jews before them. They constructed their
mighty Dome of the Rock, a strikingly beautiful place of
worship, and have maintained it there for thirteen centuries.
It stands squarely on the Temple site today. They too had
war—with the Crusaders of Europe who were determined
to rescue God's hallowed ground from desecration. In the
twelfth century the Christians from Europe used the Dome
as a church, relinquishing it finally to hordes of Moslems in
a ferocious holy war.
But all of that is just a series of mild disagreements com-
pared to what is coming. The Temple site is about to play
its greatest role. It will host the most bestial monster the
world has ever known. And then it will be a major issue of
Armageddon.
The final chapters of the earth's political, military, and
religious history will revolve around the site of the ancient
Temples. A splendid new Temple, the equal of those past
illustrious houses of God, will rise on the site. A powerful
and engaging world leader will pose a peace formula for
Israel and will eventually turn himself into a terrible dicta-
tor. His fanaticism will exceed Hitler's. He will proclaim
himself God in the Temple, and he will demand the worship
of all humanity. He will embroil the entire world in war
such as never has been imagined. All past and present wars
together would not be the equal of this coming holocaust.
The Jerusalem Temple will be stage-center as usual.
