has had an effect on tourism to Israel to see the Temple site,
much teaching in the churches, and new books on the Temple
                            issue.
The film, The Temple, produced by Evangelical Commu-
nications Research Foundation, with the authors serving as
technical consultant and writer-actor respectively, has also
had a very wide distribution, being shown in thousands of
churches and before Christian groups throughout the world.
It pinpoints the prophecies concerning the Temple, and it
shows the actual locations in Israel where the prophecy is
expected to see its ultimate fulfillment.
The past few years have also seen legal and religious
struggles over the presence of evangelical Christianity in the
Jewish homeland. But there have, too, issued forth the be-
ginnings of meaningful communication between the true
Church in Europe and the United States and the citizenry of
Israel. There are now strong ties between the leadership of
the Church and that of the promised land.
We have also seen a development hard to anticipate in
view of the tense political situation between the Jews and the
Moslems. We have seen in the past three years the approach
of prayerful Jews to the Temple Mount itself. Of course, the
Dome of the Rock and the El Aksa Mosque, important
Muslim shrines, now stand on the mount, and the Jews nor-
mally worship at the Western Wall below. But small groups
of Jewish worshipers have actually gone up to the surface,
in the face of the strongest Moslem objections, and held or-
ganized Jewish prayer—the first on the surface of the mount
                           since A.D. 70!
We have also seen the undertaking of the construction of
the Jerusalem Great Synagogue, a magnificent central shrine
of world Jewry, to be set in the New City of Jerusalem near
the Temple mount. The Great Synagogue has been compared
