Step by Step—A Plan of Action 75
The scholars have not published their findings, but a low-
profile consideration of the whole Temple matter is ever
underway in Jerusalem. The Old Testament assures the
world that the tenacious Jews are not easily defeated in their
spiritual quests. The history of our own century shows that
in the providence of God, these singular chosen people can
accomplish great wonders. We have not heard all that is
going on toward the rebuilding of the third Temple, and
those of us who follow prophecy carefully can sense, in some
way, an impending fulfillment.
God seems to move slowly with respect to human aspira-
tions. The Jews would rather have had the Messiah sooner
than two thousand years after God's covenant with Abraham.
Christians would have chosen a sooner return of the Lord
than the entirety of this lengthy Church age. Abraham de-
sired a son long before God's chosen moment, and David
would have liked to worship in the magnificent Temple of
God constructed by his son.
We have always had to wait for God's own times and
seasons. We have only His Word to depend on, but as we
have seen throughout this book, His Word is very depend-
able.
What has been accomplished toward the rebuilding of the
Temple of God since the original publication of Satan in the
Sanctuary? Actually, a world of exciting things has occurred,
if we take the long view necessary to waiting out prophecy.
This whole section "updating" the impending fulfillment of
the third Temple prophecy would not have been possible, of
course, were it not for the steady progress toward God's mo-
ment. We have seen, in the time since our original publica-
tion, Jews approaching the actual Temple mount in prayer,
the beginning of the construction of the Jerusalem Great
Synagogue, the founding of organizations to promote the re-
